Success Stories and Testimonials
My Decision to Change My Life
My Dad was my world. He was the most positive, caring person that I have ever known. He never complained, always smiled, loved life, and was so much fun to be around. It isn't fair that he isn't with me anymore. I know that he didn't want to leave me but his heart couldn't keep up. He died when he was just forty-seven of Cardiomyopathy. I was twenty-five when he passed away and I was the mother of three small boys. The idea of leaving them so young made me want to do something about my weight issues that I have had all of my life.
Like my Dad, I just naturally held weight easy. I never felt like I ate horrible foods or that I was lazy, it just seemed like no matter what I did the weight stayed on. I tried all of the diets that you can think of at least once. Finally, I made the decision that I needed help to get to a healthy weight. I scheduled a consultation at Barix Clinic and prayed that I would find some peace that I was making the right decision. My Mom tried to discourage me because she was nervous about me having surgery saying that I should wait until I was older. I brought her along and soon we both were convinced that it was the right thing to do. My fears subsided when I heard a lady that worked at Barix tell the group that was there for the consultation, about how her own father had died young too.
It was at that moment that I knew that I couldn't wait a minute longer to get started down the weight-loss surgery road. Since that day I have know that it is the best decision I ever made for myself.
The world is a cruel place for those that are overweight. I never fully understood how sad I was until I was free from all of that excess weight. Life is so wonderful and I know now that I can do absolutely anything that I set my mind to. I have put everything into my weight-loss. It isn't something that you can "kind of" do. You have to go at it full force and be serious that you truly want to change your life. It takes much longer for your mind to change. You have to look at food and exercise differently. This is truly just a tool to use to get you where you want to be. I get upset when people say, "oh-she cheated, she had weight loss surgery". I run five days a week, three-four miles at a time, weight lift two times a week, and I watch everything that I put into my mouth. I have followed the diet that Barix gave me as close as I possibly can. Nobody can call that cheating. I know that I will always have to watch what I eat and exercise, but know I know that I can do it! I started this journey near 280 pounds and now I am very proud to say that I am 135 pounds. I thank the people of Barix Clinic for always being so supportive and kind to me and for giving me a whole new life!
